Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a verification system, which is intended to stop the so-called email spoofing where an email message can be sent from one address, but to appear as being sent from another, often with the purpose to scam the recipient in some way. If SPF protection is enabled for a domain, a unique record is created for it in the Domain Name System and all DNS servers globally have it. The record contains all email servers that are allowed to send legitimate messages from an email address part of the domain. When an e-mail is sent, the first DNS server it encounters checks the SPF record and when the sending server is authorized, the message is sent to the target destination. If, however, the sending server is not contained in the SPF record for the specified domain, the email message won't be sent and it'll be removed. In case you use this service, it will stop third parties from sending spam which look as if they have been sent from you.

SPF Protection in Cloud Website Hosting

If you host your domain names in a cloud website hosting account with us and we handle the e-mail addresses for them, you'll be able to activate SPF protection for them with a few clicks inside your Hepsia Control Panel. The service is available in its own section where you'll be able to see which domain names are currently protected. For the ones that are not, you'll be able to activate the SPF protection service and manage various things during this process - the hostnames of the mail servers that are allowed to send messages from your emails, the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of these servers, and to set a rule that emails can be sent only when your domain names use our MX records. The last solution is the most secure one, and it can be used when we take care of the email addresses for your domains and you are not using another e-mail supplier. The newly generated records will be activated within 24 hours and nobody will be able to fake the FROM field in an e-mail with your e-mail addresses.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

The SPF protection feature is featured with all semi-dedicated servers, so if you host your domains in an account on our cloud website hosting platform, you're able to activate the service easily for all of your domain names. The Hepsia Control Panel, which is included with the semi-dedicated accounts, offers a very intuitive interface, therefore you don't have to be proficient in the use of computers to protected your email addresses. You will only have to type the hostname and the IP of each mail server that you would like to be authorized to send out e-mails from your addresses and right after that the new record will be active for the domain that you've picked. As a further option, we'll also allow you to control the outgoing e-mail messages and protect your mailboxes further by permitting email messages to be sent only if the domain involved has our MX records i.e. the emails for the domain name should be managed by us and not by another company. Thus you'll enjoy even superior control and there won't be a chance for anybody to fake your e-mail addresses for malicious purposes.
